WeTab OS
Based on MeeGo technology, WeTab OS is a powerful yet lightweight and flexible operating system for touch screen devices. MeeGo is jointly developed by Intel, Nokia and a large open source developer community and is hosted - as a true open source operating system - by the Linux Foundation.
WeTab OS expands the MeeGo possibilities even more and is optimized for multi-touch screens, while focusing on personal internet usage. True multitasking in combination with the support of common technologies such as Adobe Flash, Java and HTML5 provides users unique capabilities. Experienced developers can fully exploit these capabilities on their devices and extend these as required. However WeTab OS is a system that can be operated intuitively by all users without any previous knowledge.
The widget based user interface enables quick access to a comprehensive world of applications, news and multimedia content. All Apps are installed automatically via the WeTab Market or open appstores such as Adobe AIR Marketplace, Android PIT Market and Intel AppUp Center. WeTab OS supports - unlike closed systems – applications from multiple platforms and technologies such as Linux (MeeGo, Qt, GTK, KDE, Gnome), HTML5, Java, Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash to Windows and even Android.
It offers a comprehensive suite of pre-installed key applications including Web browser, File browser, Email, Calendar, Address book, eBook reader, Media gallery, Video player, Music player, Webcam, Maps, Open Office Text, Tables and Presentation, News, Weather and a large games package. In addition, fully automated system updates running in the background provide the user with always up to date and secure system.
